FELJEU“The Book and the Reading Festival”
II edition
8/10 May 2008
Information
The “Liceo Cagnazzi”, in collaboration with the Comenius 3 EWHUM Thematic Network, organizes the II edition of the European Festival of the Book and the Reading of young students (Feljeu) which will take place in Altamura-Bari during spring 2008 (8/10 May).
It is a project included in the activities of the 3 Comenius Thematic Network (European Humanism in the world), which promotes the introduction and reinforcement of the humanism dimension in the European school systems and contributes to establish the universal cultural values for the training of European citizen according to the aims of Ewhum. The project’s purpose relates , in particular , on the relationship between the young Europeans (from Liceo and Universities) and the book and the reading , considering the development of the new languages and of the information and communication technologies(ICT).
Consequently we suggest:
1. to evaluate the relationship between the young European students and the Book and the Reading
2. to analyse the readings proposed by the school and academic institutions in order to
see if a European pattern of books considered “inalienable” for the education of
the young Europeans can be found;
3. to promote, gather and select “good practices” concerning the reading and the use of
libraries
The project will be organized into three stages that provide:
1. A data collection aiming to assess the relationship of the students with the
book and the reading and a selection of “good school practises”
2. The Festival itself: three days where there will be conferences, laboratories , exhibitions, literary meetings , stands and shows (performances , projections , short films)
3. the spreading and diffusion of the products and the results on the web and through the
paper publication
Among the main topics we suggest:
• Public reading
• “the European canon”
• “the book as a concrete object”
• “the library and the reading”
• “the action of reading” also through the use , culturally based, of the not merely school languages(cinema, theatre , ICT, etc…)
The conference itself and the meetings with the writers and all the different cultural happenings(reading of dramatizations, performances, projections, etc…) will be held in the theatres and the auditorium located in Altamura, Bari and Matera.
Schools that are interested in participating to the project can send their registration form within 1st of March
The module can be downloaded on the following web sites.: http: /www.ewhum.org/EWHUM2/index.php e www.feljeu.eu together with the receipt of the paid amount of money for the application (20 €) and the number of participants.
